Trampolining proven to help mental health

Endorphins, the positive mood-enhancing hormones released during exercise, are triggered when jumping on a trampoline.

Because of the feeling of freedom, weightlessness and excitement that comes with jumping up and down, the brain releases more feel-good endorphins than it would during other forms of exercise. Endorphins are released rapidly and flood the body with positivity, helping jumpers feel more energetic and naturally lifting moods.

During trampolining, another hormone called serotonin is also released from the brain to help regulate moods, calm anxiety and reduce feelings of negativity. Low levels of serotonin are widely known to be the cause of most mild to moderate cases of depression and can lead to sleep disturbance, lethargy and feelings of worthlessness. Jumping on a trampoline helps to combat these issues and achieve a greater sense of wellbeing.

A trampoline fitness session also provides jumpers with a natural high as it releases adrenaline, which stimulates the sympathetic nervous system and heightens feelings of alertness. The adrenaline that comes from bouncing on a trampoline raises your heart rate, expands the air passages of the lungs, redistributes blood to the muscles and alters the body’s metabolism, giving jumpers a rush of feel-good vibes.

And that’s not all, the exhilaration and effort of jumping up and down on a trampoline also releases dopamine, a chemical that makes people feel more alert and cheerful. This chemical has an impact on learning and memory and therefore helps to support children’s performance at school.
